Mack Fulwyler - Innovator, Inventor & Pioneer

Mack Fulwyler
Cytometry has had a tremendous impact on many areas of biological sciences. This documentary outlines the invention of the cell sorter in 1965 by Mack Fulwyler. One of the goals of this documentary is for us to understand what the impact of cytometry has had over the past 40 years. There are still many opportunities and many problems to solve – the biggest perhaps being the tragedy of 30 million AIDS victims in Africa. I hope that that this documentary inspires you to consider how you can use your science to impact the health and welfare of people around the world. Every little bit helps.

The following commentary was submitted in February 2006 by Allen Parmelee

It has come to NECyto's attention that bbg is sometimes mistaken for NECyto.

Please let it be known that:
bbg  is an anarchic gang of rogue cytometors.
It has been alleged that their goal is to investigate, discuss and further knowledge of cytometry, as well as push its limits to the cutting edges. But many rumours have persisted that the group also delves into other, less noble, topics. Accusations have been made that much of the group's focus is lost in discussions ranging across such diversionary topics as brewing techniques, music reviews and high-performance internal-combustion vehicles. There appears to be some substance to many of these allegations.
It should be pointed out, however, that many notable cytometors are proud members of this group, so it is possible that their stated goals are also pursued with vigor.

You can judge for yourself by viewing their listserver's archive

The group eagerly states that it is open to everyone interested in joining.
They also profess to meeting on the first monday of the month at around 5p  (17:00 hrs EST) at local pubs.
The bbg has a private listserver (that any one can join) and disavow any affiliation to any known organization, corporation or definition.
If you remain undeterred you may join the list by choosing the subscribe option here

best of luck
